Revisit Past Exam Questions Just as You Start to Forget Them: Flashcards and True-or-False Drills in the Takken Kakomon Repeat App

Takken Kakomon Repeat (宅建過去問リピート), an iPhone and iPad app for working through past questions from the Takken exam again and again with flashcards and one-question-one-answer drills, launched on the App Store on October 6, 2026. (Takken is Japan's national real estate transaction agent licensing exam, for the 宅地建物取引士, or "Real Estate Transaction Specialist.") The explanations were newly written by a working licensed real estate transaction specialist, and the app schedules questions so that ones you have learned come back after a gap, while ones you struggle with return sooner. In the current version, every feature is free to use.

Common struggles when studying past exams: you forget what you solved, and you can't tell which questions to review or when You solve past questions and still forget them, and it is hard to know which ones to review and when

App Overview

When you study past exam questions, even the ones you have solved fade from memory after a few days. But you don't have time to redo every question you have already answered. Takken Kakomon Repeat leaves the decision of which question to review, and when, to the app, so you can make steady progress in small pockets of time.

  • Includes 707 flashcards and 780 one-question-one-answer items built from the 2022–2025 exams (Reiwa 4–7), excluding the statistics question
  • Explanations, the correct statements to memorize, and the flashcards were all newly written by a working licensed real estate transaction specialist
  • Questions and explanations are based on the laws as of April 1, 2026
  • Every card and question shows its source (exam year, question, and option)

Two Ways to Study

  • Flashcard mode: You see a question and two candidate answers (A and B)
  • One-question-one-answer mode: You judge whether a single sentence from a past exam is true (○) or false (×)

In both modes, after answering you can check the explanation and the "correct statement to memorize."

Features

Three strengths: answering with your confidence level, the order questions appear, and your progress by subject Three strengths: answering with your confidence level, the order questions appear, and your progress by subject

Answer With Your Confidence Level

Along with your answer, you choose "Confident," "Maybe," or "Don't know." If you answer wrongly while confident, the question gets a "Watch out for assumptions" mark and comes back sooner.

Question Order Built on the Forgetting Curve

Questions you have learned come back after a gap, and ones you find hard come back sooner. The app incorporates the idea of the forgetting curve. Intervals are counted not in days but in the number of times you have solved questions, so it works the same way even if you skip a few days of study.

Quests of 10 Questions

Each quest combines 10 questions: ones you know well, ones you are starting to forget, difficult ones, and new ones. You can finish one neatly on a train ride or over lunch.

Exam Frequency and Progress by Subject

  • Cards and questions show how many times they appeared in the last four years ("appeared X times in the past 4 years"), and new questions are presented starting with the most frequently tested
  • A bar chart shows your progress in each subject: Rights and Relationships (civil law), Legal Restrictions, Taxes and Other Topics, the Real Estate Brokerage Act, and the five exempted questions section
  • You can narrow your study to a single subject or to one of 24 units, such as Article 37 documents, the Act on Land and Building Leases, and the City Planning Act

The app also offers a countdown to the exam date, light and dark display modes, and a "Report an Error" button on every question.
