Trying Coffee from the Coffee Truck Seiten Kigan at the Seiseki Kawamachi Food Truck Space

On October 9, 2026, I visited Seiten Kigan (meaning 'a prayer for clear skies'), a coffee truck at the Seiseki Kawamachi food truck space in Tama City, Tokyo. I talked with the owner and tried the cold-brew iced coffee.

From the COVID-19 Pandemic to a Life with Coffee

The owner began exploring coffee in earnest during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Later, while exercising on the Tama River bank by chance, the owner saw a Kawamachi notice board and decided to run a food truck (coffee truck) serving the coffee they love. They bought a truck, and have been open since around April 2026.

The Top Recommendation: Geisha

The owner's top recommendation is Geisha, a coffee variety. It has nothing to do with Japan's geisha; its roots lie in the Kaffa region of southwestern Ethiopia, I was told.

Because it was hard to grow, it was not widely available. In 2000, it was successfully cultivated at Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama and introduced to the world, I was told.

Trying the Cold-Brew Iced Coffee

I had the cold-brew iced coffee. It was clean, easy to drink, and delicious.

This coffee truck serves delicious coffee along the Tama River. I would happily recommend it to any coffee lover. If you are sightseeing in the Tama area (western Tokyo), stop by.

Before you go, check the truck's official Instagram for the days it is open.
